Rodney Hinz

Rodney  (Rod) Hinz, 69, Clitherall, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at his home.

Rodney Marvin was born on October 23, 1949 to Marvin and Dorothy (Pyle) Hinz.  He graduated from Mapleton (ND) High School and attended college at Moorhead State University and later NDSCS in Wahpeton, graduating in 1977 with a degree in refrigeration and air conditioning technology.  He worked at several jobs in the HVAC field before accepting a teaching position at NDSCS, where he worked for 21 years.

On March 23, 1974, Rod married Mary Simenson from Kindred, North Dakota and they had two boys.

In 1988, they moved to their current home on Clitherall Lake.  Rod enjoyed golfing, fishing, pinochle, playing with his grandkids, and visiting with his morning coffee gang.  After retirement, Rod and Mary spent winters in Texas where they golfed, loved the great weather, and enjoyed time with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Paul (Kelly) of Burnsville, MN and Tom (Christina) of North Mankato, MN; grandchildren, MacKenna and Ryan of Burnsville; and brothers, Doug (Kim) of Casselton, ND and Larry (Sally) of Beaufort, South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven.

Memorial Service: 11 AM Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.
