Romonus Ferber, 88, of Fergus Falls, died Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Broen Home, Fergus Falls, Minnesota.
Romonus Otto Ferber was born on October 8, 1928 to Carl and Adelheide (Eckhardt) Ferber in Elizabeth, Minnesota. He grew up and attended country school in rural Elizabeth. After his schooling he worked on the family farm until he enlisted in the US Army. Monie was honorably discharged on November 11, 1951. He was united in marriage to Georgene Wentler on June 28, 1953 in Fergus Falls and that is where the couple made their home. Monie was employed at Victor Lundeen Company as a printer and retired in the early 1990’s.
Monie enjoyed gardening. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, active with the Minnesota Deer Hunter’s Association and Fergus Falls Fish and Game Club. He was instrumental in acquiring wildlife habitats including Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. As an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, he sang in multiple choirs. Monie was a member of the Orpheum Men’s Choir. Spending time with his family was important as well as following his grandchildren in their activities.
Monie is survived by his wife, Georgene of Fergus Falls; daughters, Cheri Anderson of Fergus Falls, Bonnie (Jay) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Tami (Dave) Woodard of Moorhead; son, Mark (Sara) Ferber of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren, Josh (Jody) Harworth, Lyndsi Harworth, Tucker Johnson, Cassie Woodard, Andrew Woodard, Cory Woodard, Lexi Woodard, Marija Ferber and Annika Ferber; three great-grandchildren Alexzandra Harworth, Mason Harworth and Landon Harworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters, Rueben Ferber, Adella Herrmann, Arletta Beneke, David Ferber, Erwin Ferber, Alta Froelich, Rosita Lunde and Kelly Ferber; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Monday, October 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Visitation: 3-5 PM, Sunday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls with a time of sharing at 4:30 - and one hour prior to the service at the church
