Alice Aase

September 25, 1929 — March 3, 2025

Alice Oline Aase, age 95, of Fergus Falls, went home into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of March 3rd, 2025, at PioneerCare Center with the assistance of Vivi Hospice.

She was born on September 25, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, to Arthur and Benna (Daastol) Helgesen. She attended elementary school in Brooklyn and graduated high school from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls, MN. At each of these places, she developed deep friendships.

In 1952, she married George Aase, and together they built a life centered on faith and family, raising three children: Allen (Carol) Aase, Barbara Olsen, and Linda (Kevin) Patch. Alice faithfully supported George’s ministry as he pastored churches in Maddock, ND; Bunker Hill, NJ; Bloomington, MN; Brooklyn, NY; and Succasunna, NJ. She was a rock to her husband during their ministry. She had a heart for service and found joy in spending time with people. Her radiant smile exuded thoughtfulness, grace and kindness.

In 1989, they moved to Mount Bethel, PA, where Alice worked at the Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center’s Gift and Bookstore. She treasured being a part of the ministry at Tuscarora and reconnected there with old friends and made many new friends. In 2007, she and George returned to Fergus Falls where they were surrounded by many long-time friends. They were active at Bethel Church and enjoyed worshipping there. They eventually moved into Alcott Manor in 2015 - the same building they had once lived in while George attended seminary.

Alice found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles while watching Wheel of Fortune. She cherished her summers in Southold, NY, where she enjoyed gathering with friends on the beach, fishing, and swimming. However, her greatest love was her family.

She is survived by her children; grandchildren Kristen Olsen, Becky (Bo) Miller, Kelley (Tom) Scheid, Larissa (Hans) Brue, Cooper Patch and great-grandchildren Evan Olsen, Ashton Olsen Fawcett, George Olsen, Wyatt & Wesley Miller, Macie, Carter & Mia Scheid and Kit & Benna Brue. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Elsie (John) Helgesen.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Aase; her parents, Arthur & Benna Helgesen; and her brother, John Helgesen.

Memorials are preferred to Tuscarora Inn & Conference Center, 3300 River Road, Mt. Bethel, PA 18343 or Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, 610 Hillcrest Drive, Fergus Falls, MN 56537
