Alice M. Ronnevik, 96, of Fergus Falls, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the Broen Home.
Alice Marian Hexum was born to Albert and Olga (Sethre) Hexum at Wright Hospital in Fergus Falls on February 26, 1919. She was baptized into God's family and confirmed her faith at Hedemarken Lutheran Church, rural Carlisle. She attended school district #286 through eighth grade in Carlisle, then stayed at home to help her parents on the family farm.
On June 18, 1943, she married Jorolf Ronnevik, and they lived on their farm near Carlisle until 1981, when they retired to a new home in Carlisle. They lived there together where they cared for each other until November 2014, when they moved to Woodland Lodge in Fergus Falls.
Alice was known for her love and devotion to family, eagerly looking forward to new grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a gift of hospitality – gladly entertaining family, friends, relatives and neighbors. The Ronnevik household was often the place where relatives from a distance gathered to be treated to her hospitality and great cooking. Alice was especially noted as a great lefse maker, gardener and quilter.
Alice was active in church and community. Church attendance, bible studies, women's group, and family devotions were priorities. Reading bible stories to her children and praying for her family each day were an enduring legacy that she and Jorolf passed on to their family.
She is survived by her 99 year old husband, Jorolf of Fergus Falls, who shared her same birthday of February 26th; children, Hans (Rachel) Ronnevik of Carlisle, Richard (Linda) Ronnevik of Carlisle, Ruth (Jerry) Swendsrud of Fergus Falls, Mary (Paul) Stowman of Rothsay, and Rolf (Sue) Ronnevik of Carlisle; grandchildren, Erik (Sara) Ronnevik, Andrew Ronnevik, Sarah Ronnevik (Nick Barootian), Karl (Jessica) Ronnevik, Knut (Gretchen) Ronnevik, Jon (Kristin) Ronnevik, Rondi (Chris) Hamilton, Lars (Molly) Ronnevik, Astri Swendsrud (Quinn Gomez-Heitzenberg), Peder (Kristen) Swendsrud, Anders Swendsrud, Maren Stowman (fiancé Jason Trites), Hannah Stowman, Elsa Stowman, Liv Ronnevik, Bethany (Bryce) Haugen, Daniel (Keely) Ronnevik, and Krista Ronnevik; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Gerald) Tysver; brother, Al (Ellen) Hexum; sister-in-law, Myrtle Lindstrom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel (Sterling) Olness and Eunice (Anton) Glesne; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer (Lena) Hexum; and brother-in-law, George Lindstrom.
