Alma Reiter O'Meara, 94, of Fergus Falls, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Alma Leona Hoefs was born on March 16, 1921, the daughter of Edwin and Alice (Barclay) Hoefs in Warroad, Minnesota. At the age of four, she moved with her family to Litchfield, MN, where she attended country school. She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield.
In November of 1940, she married Herbert Reiter. They lived in St. Paul for a time, before moving to Litchfield. To this union, two children were born: Shirley Jean and Donald.
With her son Don, Alma moved to Richville, where she helped raise her "special daughters" at the Gus Peuse farm for eight and a half years. Alma moved to Fergus Falls in 1955 and worked at the Regional Treatment Center for nearly thirty years as a counselor, also earning her LPN license.
Alma was married to Orman O'Meara in 1969.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the LWML. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, and fishing.
Alma is survived by her son, Don (Darlene) Reiter; one granddaughter, Deanna (Ben) Boucher; two grandsons, Dean Reiter and Doug Tank; great-granddaughters, Bethany and Carlie Brown; two step-daughters, Edith Blow and Luann (Jeff) Bullis; stepson, Larry (Lois) O'Meara; step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Hoefs; special daughters, Viola Ward, Darcy (Hank) Grannis, Willie (Brian) Walker, their children and grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Herbert and Orman; a daughter in infancy, Shirley Jean; brother, Alfred Hoefs; sister, Ella Paana; and special daughter, Harriet Peuse.
Funeral Service: 11:30 AM Monday, September 14, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls
