Anna Hopper, age 87, of Fergus Falls, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at PioneerCare Center in Fergus Falls.
Anna Marie Hopper was born November 13, 1923 in Carlisle Township, the daughter of Ole and Mathilda (Linner) Hexum. She was baptized and confirmed at Hedemarken Lutheran Church in Carlisle.
On April 1, 1945 Anna married Donald Edward Hopper in the chapel at Camp Knight at Oakland, CA. They moved to Kankakee, IL soon after. In May of 1946 the couple moved to Fergus Falls where Anna worked at Skogmo CafAC. and Normandy CafAC.. She also worked for Gladys Pedersen making lefse be for going to work at Metz Baking Company where she worked until her retirement.
Anna and Donald joined Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls in 1958 where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway and a Fergus Falls Community College Chorale. Besides singing, Anna loved to read, play cards, relax at their cottage on Long Lake and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children.
Anna is survived by her five sons and one daughter, John (Sally) Hopper of Hot Springs, SD, Bruce (Jan) Hopper of Underwood, MN, Guy (Doreen) Hopper of Detroit Lakes, MN, Jeffrey (Ann) Hopper of Moorhead, MN, Mary (Randy) Buckingham of Fergus Falls, MN and Scott (Amy) Hopper of Monticello, MN; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with another soon to arrive.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; seven siblings, Myrtle Jenson, Olga Brandvig, Martin Hexum, Carl Hexum, Chester Hexum, Esther Hexum and her twin brother, Alvin (Bud) Hexum; infant son, Bruce Edward Hopper and two infant grandchildren, Shannon and Andrew Hopper.
Funeral Services: 1:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
