Arlene Olson, 89, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Lake Region Hospital.
Arlene Olson was born December 20, 1924, In Fergus Falls to Sig and Edna (Berg) Hagen. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School and then worked at Swenson's Woolen Mill. Later she moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked at Emmanuel Dec. Institution.
On August 26, 1944, she married Weldon Olson at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. After Weldon returned from the Army in February 1946, they lived in Fergus Falls until 1949. They purchased a farm near Barnhard School where they lived and farmed. They moved back to Fergus Falls and lived for 17 years before buying a farm near Wee Town where they raised beef cattle and farmed for 21 years. Arlene loved the farm and being around nature and her family also enjoyed the farm. In 1990, they moved to their home on Wall Lake and in 1997, they moved into Fergus Falls.
Arlene was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, Tuesday School and was president of WELCA. She was also active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, volunteered for Meals on Wheels and enjoyed going out to eat.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Debbie) Olson of Fergus Falls; daughter, Connie (Jim) Pitera of St. Paul; six grandchildren, Heidi (Nate) Fell, Heather Olson, David Jr. (Delaney) Olson, Matthew (Vicki) Olson, Mark Olson, Christina (Joe) Weappa; 11 great-grandchildren, James (Emma), Samantha, Erik, Michael, Cailey, Boyd, Lynsey, Christian, Lexis, Carson and Colton; step-grandchildren; : Trent (Riika) and Trudy; step great-grandchildren, Alley, Jade and Nash, Zavier and Morgan, Jeremy, Tyler and Cheyene; many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Weldon in 2002, son, David in 2014, grandson, Lief Olson, brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Blanche Hagen.
Memorial Services: 11 AM Saturday, November 22 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church
