Audrey (Washek) Hanson, 73 died Saturday, July 27, 2013
Audrey Francis Hanson was born on July 25, 1940 in Battle Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Leonard and Lois (Hartness) Gaarsland. She attended the Battle Lake Public School.
Audrey and Larry Washek were married on October 13, 1956 in the St. James Catholic Church of Maine Township, rural Underwood, Minnesota. To this marriage five children were born, Becky, Brenda, Steve, Beth and Ricky. They lived and raised their family south of Battle Lake. Audrey and Raymond Hanson were married in June of 1986. They lived south of Clitherall by Inspiration Peak. She was a homemaker, had been employed at Pamida, then Rosenblatts both in Fergus Falls. Audrey enjoyed sewing, making a lot of her childrens clothing, watching television enjoying soap operas and got lots of laughs from the Jerry Springer Show.
She loved to dance, watching movies, going for car rides, coffee at Wal-Mart, trips to Medora and to Itasca and Maplewood State Parks. Audrey was loving and supportive of her kids and grandkids and spent a lot of time with her granddaughter Tessa and Makia, both in Moorhead and Battle Lake.
She is survived by three daughters, Becky Cudmore of Casper, WY, Brenda Stewart of Wadena and Beth Lee of Underwood; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn (Gene) Watnaas of Vining; two brothers, Dennis (Joy) Gaarsland and Floyd "Al" Gaarsland both of Battle Lake; and by numerous relatives and friends. Audrey was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Gaarsland; mother and step-father, Lois and Gordon Ellwanger; two sons, Steve and Ricky Washek; one grandson, Timothy Washek-Leitch; one brother, Ray Gaarsland; one sister, Terri Schwartz.
Prayer Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, July 31 at the Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake
Visitation: one hour prior
Clergy: Intern Pastor Hannah Benedict
Interment: Trefoldighed Cemetery, rural Battle Lake
Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson of Battle Lake.
