Audrey Heidenson, 86, of Battle Lake, MN died Thursday, April 5, 2012 in her home at the Lakeview Senior Living Apts. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2:00pm at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake with Pr. Jake Dyrhaug officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Audrey Jeanne Swanborg was born on October 24, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Floyd and Charlotte(Kornoelje) Swanborg. She attended school in Chicago and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1943, then continued her education at Northwestern University, Chicago campus.
While attending Northwestern University, she met the love of her life and last April 21st, she and Dick Heidenson celebrated their 60th anniversary with a special family celebration. She lived in Arlington Heights, IL while raising her family and then in 1997, Audrey and Dick moved to Hills, MN where they lived for thirteen years. In September of 2010, they moved to Battle Lake. Audrey was a homemaker and raised her family until being employed by Flick-Reedy at Miller Fluid Power Company in Bensenville, IL. Audrey enjoyed knitting and needlework, reading, bird watching, and traveling in their motor home. Over her life, she spent much of her time volunteering at church and senior centers. She was a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL before moving to Hills, MN where she and Dick often attended their son, Ray's, churches. Upon moving to Battle Lake they became members of First Lutheran Church. Audrey was always active in her churches as she established a Resource Room at Bethel and enjoyed making quilts for donations. However, Audrey found her greatest joy in her family and grandchildren.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Richard; one daughter, Jan (Mark) Ausland of Apple Valley, MN; two sons, Steve (Deb) Heidenson of Henning, MN and Ray (Lyn) Heidenson of Brandon, SD; nine grandchildren, Kelly Ausland, Theresa (Justin Teal) Ausland, Sean (Lacie) Ausland, Ryan (Megan) Sieler, Nick Sieler, Lee Heidenson, Jenne Heidenson, Max (Brook) Heidenson and Daryl Gakin; three great-grandchildren, Bianca and Garrett Teal and Bryer Gakin; and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, David in 1987.
