Barbara Fenske

February 20, 1934 — November 12, 2011

Barbara Fenske, age 77, of Battle Lake, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center where she received excellent care from the home staff along with Lakeland Hospice.

Barbara Ann Fenske was born February 20, 1934 in DeLamere, North Dakota the daughter of Johan N. and Josephine M. (Engerholm) Trangsrud. She was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in DeLamere, attended the DeLamere Public School and graduated from the Fergus Falls High School in 1951.

Barbara and Roger Fenske were married on June 5, 1955 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in the Fergus Falls area where she was employed with the Fergus Falls National Bank for twenty years. In 1974 the family moved to New Ulm, living there for ten years when they moved to their home on Eagle Lake, south of Battle Lake. Barb was a member of the Eagle Lake Lutheran Church and Choir, Eagle Lake Quilters, along with the Eagle Lake Homemakers. She enjoyed music, especially singing and playing organ and piano. Barb liked quilting, sewing, playing golf and bridge. She also enjoyed their Eagle Lake home, especially time spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; two sons, Jonathan (Kathleen) Fenske of St. Paul and Timothy (Dominique) Fenske of Richfield; four grandchildren, Abigail (Colin) Rooney, Benjamin Fenske, Joseph (Rachelle) Fenske and Elizabeth Fenske; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude (Harold) Farsdale of Walcott, N.D.; one brother, David (Evelyn) Trangsrud of Wahpeton, N.D.; and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johan and Josephine Trangsrud; and by four brothers, Arlington, John, Roland and Dennis Trangsrud.

Funeral Services: 2 PM, Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake, Minnesota.

Visitation: one hour prior to the service at church
