Betty Alice Brockopp was born on January 17, 1938 in Buffalo, Minnesota the daughter of John and Annettta (Wickham) Drake. In 1943, when Betty was five years old the family moved to Duluth and in 1950, returned to Fergus Falls.
On March 20, 1960 Betty and Theodore Frank Brockopp were married in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Fergus Falls. Betty was a homemaker while Ted worked first for Bill and Earl Fabian then the Clifford and Vernon Swift Farms for thirty-five years. In 1984, Betty and Ted became members of St. John's Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in Elizabeth where she was baptized on April 7, 1985 at the the age of forty-seven by Pastor Daniel Domke. Ted passed away on July 30, 1996, after thirty-six years of marriage. Betty moved into town and enrolled in the Fergus Falls Community College. In May of 1998, at the age of sixty she graduated with a Secretarial Degree Diploma. With the help of "Experience Help" she worked as a Clerical Assistant one year for Rick Ellis at the Social Security Administration, then was transferred to Western Area City County Cooperative and then for Lutheran Social Service, and at the last for Craig Molstad of Habitat for Humanity in Fergus Falls. Her greatest joy in life was singing Karaoke and riding motorcycle. She also enjoyed machine embroidery and designing and making quilts for friends and relatives.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2013 Betty passed away at Broen Memorial Home in Fergus Falls at the age of 75 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annetta Drake; three sisters, Lorraine (Leonard) "Drake" Carter, Bernice "Drake" Nettles and Gloria "Drake" Carter; two brothers, Daniel Drake and John Wesley Drake, Betty was the last of the immediate family members to pass away. Betty is survived by one son, John Drake and by numerous relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
