Betty Ann Spanswick, 90, of Ottertail, Minnesota, went to be with the Lord on December 9, 2024. A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ottertail, Minnesota with Pastor Karl Weber officiating the service.
Betty was born on November 14, 1934, in Doran, Minnesota to Ruth (Wahl) and Fritzjof Arneson. Betty was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the late Pastor Gorentz. Betty attended Country School in Doran County School and later graduated in 1973, receiving her GED. Betty was married to James “Jim” Spanswick on November 14, 1952, in Webster, South Dakota. During Betty’s life she held many titles including homemaker, a waitress at Margaret’s Café in Ottertail and The Chalet on Otter Tail Lake. Later on, she went on to get her home health aide certification and then worked at the Henning Nursing Home, Otter Tail County, Perham and the State of Minnesota. Betty retired in 1997. Betty enjoyed the outdoors and especially fishing. She was an active member of the Ottertail Rod and Gun Club for many years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jim Spanswick; daughter Debra Larson; sons, Jeff (Krista), Joe (Sandy) and Ken (Karen); sister, Muriel (Larry) Tonsager; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those who preceded Betty in death were her parents, Ruth and Fritzjof; son, Bruce; two brothers, Fred Jr., and Orville Arneson; three sisters, Maxine (Micky) Herness, Lillian Burhans and Sylvia Tonsager.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Good Samaritan Home in Battle Lake.
