Blanche Shol, age 77, of Fergus Falls, died June 24, 2011 at her home.
Blanche LaVonne (Johnson) Shol was born July 10, 1933, in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Rolland G. and Ruth J. (Sandahl) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. James Episcopal Church in Fergus Falls. Blanche graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1951. While attending school she was employed by Emerson Molter Trucking and Dieseth Specialty.
On August 25, 1951 Blanche married Lucky Shol at the St. James Episcopal Church in Fergus Falls, and she joined him at his Army post in Germany. After Lucky's discharge from the service, they returned to Fergus Falls where they farmed in Buse Township. They sold the farm in 1965 and moved to town. In 1967 the couple purchased The Viking Café.
Blanche was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, life time member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of First United Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially holidays. She was happiest when her house was full of family, love and laughter. She enjoyed collecting bears, feeding "her" birds and watching her shows on TV.
Blanche is survived by her sister, Donna Anderson; her children, Sheri (Richard) Jones, Bill Shol, Sally (Larry) Ott, Paul Shol, Peggy (Marc) Carlson, Nancy (Mark) Hagberg, Amy Shol (Shawn Olson) and Pat (Addie) Shol; grandchildren, Jen, Cory and Sarah Jones, Amber (Mike) Evans, Josh (Sarah) Shol, Lacey Shol (Zach Skramstad), Chris (Tanya) Ott, Nick (Heather) Ott, Tiff Shol, Matt Carlson (Diane Brennaman), Molly (Nate) Gadow, Krista Hagberg (Curt Proffit), Dylan (Heather) Hagberg, Robert Hagberg (Anna Wilson), Dalton Olson, Hayden and Davis Shol; great-grandchildren, Damon, Cierra, Makayla, Aurora and Tucker Jones, Peter, Thomas and Avery Evans, Atleigh and Brinly Shol, Alexis Skramstad, Austin and Cody Montgomery, Zane and Tanner Ott, Joplin Shol, Wyatt and Abby Carlson, Alexandra Brennaman, Connor and Mia Gadow, and Corban Proffit; and her niece and nephews, Steve (Kay) Anderson, Wendy (Wayne) Schiesser and Dana (Lori) Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lucky, her daughter Cindy, and brother-in-law Bud Anderson.
Funeral Services: Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First United Church of Christ of Fergus Falls
Visitation: Thursday 5-7 PM with prayer service at 7 PM at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church
