Bonnie L. Nelson, 78, of Battle Lake, MN, died Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
She was born February 19, 1943 in Bertha, MN to J.D. and Marjorie (Johnson) Bain. She grew up in Clarissa and graduated from Clarissa High School. She then attended St. Cloud State University where she took liberal arts classes. She was united in marriage to Rodney Nelson on August 24, 1963. Bonnie was a stay-at-home mom to her children, Julie and Ryan before working as a media assistant in the St. Cloud School District for 20 years.
Bonnie was an avid MN Twins fan. She also loved to paint and was very good with both oils and watercolors. She was tutored by Raleigh Kinney. She had several collections of items including Coke memorabilia, pigs, and beanie babies, to name a few. Bonnie loved to play cards and visit the local casino for an outing once in a while. She really enjoyed preparing for and serving at the St. Lucia breakfast each year at Salem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. She also took pleasure in purchasing and refinishing antique furniture and enjoyed doing greeting card crafting and creating greeting cards. She also enjoyed relaxing at Battle Lake on the weekends before retiring there permanently.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Rodney of Battle Lake, her daughter, Julie (Dean) Fenoglio of Quimby, IA, three grandchildren: Justin Winter, Zach Winter and Kinsy Fenoglio, three great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Charlotte and Brekyn, and a brother, Jack (Sandy) Bain. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son, Ryan Nelson.
Funeral service: Monday, January 10, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake with visitation taking place for one hour prior to the service.
Spring burial: Immanuel Good Shepherd Cemetery in Clarissa
