Brenda Jones, 72 of Ashby died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Brenda Fay Jones was born on May 10, 1945, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Benjamin and Florence (Larson) Lystrom. She was baptized in Grue Lutheran Church and confirmed in St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Garden Grove, California. Brenda attended Rural School District #72 in Eagle Lake Township south of Battle Lake and moved to California where she graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1963, and later continued her education with beauty school in California.
She lived in California until 1992, when she moved to Minnesota and was employed with Regis until 1999 and then opened her own salon in Ashby, Beauty by Brenda. Reading was one of Brenda’s favorite pastimes, so naturally she started a lending library from her vast collection of books. What Brenda valued most about her life was her close knit family, her loyal customers and her many friends. Her church was also an important part of her life. She looked forward to Sunday services, and Sunday brunch at Shoreline.
Brenda is survived by two daughters, Gina (Brian) White of Lake Forest, California and Rhonda (Robert) Joubert of Bakersfield, California; two granddaughters, Shaina and Breanne; sister, Twila Stierlen of Ashby; brother, Gary (Patt) Lystrom of Battle Lake; and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Florence Lystrom; sister, Helaine Shaffer; and great-nephew, Justin Woldahl.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Grue Lutheran Church, of rural Ashby with visitation one hour prior to the service.
