Carl Christianson, 88 of Clitherall died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society.





Carl Clifford Christianson was born on September 16, 1921 rural Vining, Minnesota the son of Malfred and Emma (Sandahl) Christianson. Carl was baptized and confirmed in the Nidaros Lutheran Church and attended Rural School District #33 in Nidaros Township .





Carl served with the U.S. Army at Fort Irwin in California doing Paratrooper training. After his discharge he was employed with Skogmo Motors in Fergus Falls , he then owned and operated Carl's Auto Sales and Repair. Carl then worked for Lykken Implement in Battle Lake before moving to Minneapolis where he was a mechanic for Anderson Motors over twenty years. In 1982 he returned to the Clitherall area and purchased a truck to haul gravel and rock for lakeshore riprapping. Carl enjoyed helping his neighbors, was known for his hours of snowblowing and other odd jobs and he loved to work. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing, pitching horseshoes and enjoyed visiting with people. He was a lifetime member of the Nidaros Lutheran Church .





He is survived by four sons, Terry (Harriet) Christianson of Henning, Jeff Christianson of Anchorage, Alaska, Dan Christianson of Ephrata, Washington and Matthew (Liz) Christianson of Brooklyn Park; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Biederman of Clitherall; one brother, Orrin (Betty) Christianson of Clitherall; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Malfred and Emma Christianson; infant son, Carlton; four sisters, Marie Tenney, Elsie Bosen, Susie Sydow and Sharon Carson.
