Carol Lyngstad, 77, of Fergus Falls died Monday, April 3, 2023, at Pioneer Care in Fergus Falls, MN.
Carol was born February 8, 1946, in Fergus Falls to Carl and Elsie (Drechsel) Soronen. She grew up and attended school in Fergus Falls, graduating from FFHS in 1964. She attended the Fergus Falls Junior College after high school. On February 6, 1965, she married Don Lyngstad in Battle Lake. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities where they were both employed by the Minnesota State Highway Department. Later, the couple briefly moved to Hawley, before moving back to Don’s hometown of Battle Lake. Together, they had two daughters, Sheila and Lisa. Carol loved to garden and was well known in the area for supplying many neighbors and local resorts with raspberries and other tasty treats from her gardens. In February of 2017, Don became a resident at Pioneer Care, and was joined there by Carol in April of 2018.
Carol enjoyed crafting, gardening, painting, and playing all kinds of games with friends; she especially loved Bingo, Pokeno & Bananagrams. Carol, Sue & Elsie used to enjoy taking regular road trips to Fargo for some serious double coupon shopping and playing bingo together. Many wonderful memories were made on these trips. Carol loved to make others smile and laugh; for many years she donated two large, hand-painted pumpkins to the Cancer Center in Fergus Falls to help bring a smile to all who were lucky enough to see them.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Don; parents Carl and Elsie; brothers Wayne and Larry. She is survived by her daughters, Sheila and Lisa, four grandchildren, brother Carl (Barb) Soronen, sisters Connie (Arlan) Swenson, and Susan Jensen (Gary Albertson).
