Carol D. Thompson of Battle Lake, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.

Carol Destler was born on November 12, 1931 to Kenneth and Dorothy (Bonnell) Destler in Cincinnati, Ohio. She spent her first ten years in various cities in Ohio, eventually moving with her family to Atlantic, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1949. After high school, Carol went to attend the University of Missouri at Kansas City for two years.

While in Kansas City attending school, Carol married Clarence "Tommy" Thompson in 1951, and they were blessed with three children. Carol and Tommy moved to Arizona for a short time, and in 1954, moved to Lone Jack, Missouri. Carol went to work for Western Electric and held multiple positions within the company until her retirement in 1987.

In 1987, the family moved to Battle Lake, where Carol has since lived. She worked part time as Bailiff at the Fergus Falls Courthouse for twenty years, and was a church organist most of her life, most notably at Trefoldighed and First Lutheran Churches in Battle Lake.
