Catherine "Kitty" Marie (Ebersviller) Heyen died March 31, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born March 24th, 1926 to William and Alwina (Fick) Ebersviller at the Boysen Hospital in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and baptized at the Ringsaker Lutheran Church, also in Pelican Rapids. When she was five-years-old, the family moved to Fergus Falls where she lived most of her life, except for 10 years as a resident of Ottertail Lake. She also lived 5 years on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, Minnesota, before moving back to Fergus Falls in 2015 where she was a resident at Pioneer Suites and most recently Pioneer Care Center.
Catherine graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1944 and the University of Minnesota in 1948, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Related Arts and English. She worked at O'Meara's department store during high school and college vacations and was an assistant librarian at the Fergus Falls Public Library for 10 years. She was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees and a Camp Fire Girls' leader. She was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church and remained a member there her entire life. She taught Sunday school and was an active member of ALCW.
Catherine married Morrie Heyen on June 15, 1948. She loved being a mother to three wonderful daughters and grandmother to 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader, appreciated music, good design and decorating. She loved sewing and made many clothes and quilts for her family. She played bridge for many years with her close girlfriends and entertained with their dinner club, family gatherings, wedding receptions, birthdays and weekends at the lake. Her advisor at the U of M, Miss Geary, would have been proud of her accomplishments in entertaining and design.
She and Morrie traveled to Florida many winters and the highlight of their vacations was a trip to the French Riviera, even though it interfered with Morrie's duck hunting. She also enjoyed a special vacation to Las Vegas with her daughters for her 75th birthday.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Alwina Ebersviller, her husband Morrie Heyen, her sister Lorraine Galloway, her brothers Gordon Ebersviller and William (Bill) Ebersviller, her brother-in-law Jerry Heyen and sister-in-law Jessie Heyen.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Rodney Ebersviller of Fergus Falls, her daughters Virginia (Flip) Carlson, Karen (Dave) Lindberg and Pam (Terry) Jensen, grandchildren Jade (Samantha) Synstelien, Rory (Naomi) Synstelien, Dylan Carlson, twins Adam and Andria Lindberg, Katie (Chase) Johansen, and twins Allyson and Madolyn Jensen and great grandchildren, Kimana Synstelien, Jack Synstelien, Bodhi Synstelien and Dayson Lindberg and a sister-in-law, Nancy (Bill) Ebersviller.
