Chris Johnson, 54, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Christopher Lynn Johnson was born on July 25, 1970, in Austin, MN, the son of Lynn and Holly (Tamke) Johnson. Chris and his family lived in Blooming Prairie, MN, until they purchased Vacationland resort on Ottertail Lake.
Chris was a fun-loving guy who enjoyed life, and he had such a positive attitude. He had a big heart and always had a smile for everyone he met, with a firm hand shake or warm hug. He was known for his “bear” hugs. He was compassionate and never had an unkind word for anyone.
Chris loved the color red. Some of his favorite things were going to stock car races, listening to all types of music, watching movies (Golden Girls, Grumpy Old Men, Mama Mia, Home Alone), anything with wolves, cheering for the Vikings and the Twins, helping out and visiting with people at the family resort. What Chris liked best was dad’s cooking and mom’s baking.
Chris also had a love of nature. He enjoyed walks with mom, biking, planting flowers, birds, sunsets and full moons, pontoon rides on the lake, and the yearly fishing trip to Lake of The Woods with his dad, brother, nephew and the gang.
The most important thing to Chris was spending time with his family, especially the fun times bantering back and forth with his niece, Halie and nephew, Drew. They were his world. Chris lived and worked in Perham, working at Productive Alternatives for over 20 years, where he developed many close friendships with staff and co-workers. He was known to light the place up with his smile and funny stories. Chris and his housemates enjoyed taking trips, going to concerts and RedHawks Games.
Chris’s church family was important to him, and he took part in the service and helped serve during coffee time. He made many lasting friendships there.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents; his aunt, Bobbie; cousin, Becky and childhood babysitter and friend, Joyce. Chris is survived by his parents, Lynn and Holly; his brother, Trevor; sister-in-law, Patty, all of Battle Lake; niece Halie; nephew, Drew; aunts, uncles, cousins; special pets, Chloe and Jenna and many friends.
Help us celebrate Chris by wearing red.
