Clara M. Larson, age 87, of Ashby, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Evansville Care Center.
Clara Margaret Fhyrie was born April 23, 1924 in Friberg Township, MN to Hjalmer and Minnie (Langseth) Fhyrie. She attended country school through the eighth grade. After receiving her education Clara went to work, holding several jobs throughout her lifetime, including the Sweet Shop, Piggly Wiggly, and Victor Lundeen Print Shop, all in Fergus Falls.
Clara married Orville Froslie in 1948, and they were blessed with a daughter, Virginia. Orville passed away in 1969.
On January 5, 1970, Clara married Harold "Bud" Larson at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls.
After marrying Bud, Clara worked a few years longer at the Victor Lundeen Company, and then began to help Bud full time with the farming operation near Ashby.
Clara greatly enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, work on the farm, and enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives with Bud. Clara also enjoyed to go dancing, and especially enjoyed time spent visiting with family and friends. She felt fortunate to be able to travel to visit her daughter Virginia and her family. Clara was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Elbow Lake, where she attended regularly.
Clara is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harold "Bud" of Ashby; a daughter, Virginia Wood of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Brad Williams and Angie Williams; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her first husband, Orville; and siblings, Alfred, Conrad, Sofus, Effie, and Herman.
Visitation: 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Ashby, MN.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Friday, April 20, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake, MN, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
