Corey Hoefs, 57, of rural Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family, friends and under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Corey Michael Hoefs was born January 13, 1958 in Breckenridge, MN to Eugene and Lois (Gebhart) Hoefs. He grew up and received his schooling in Wahpeton, ND graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1976. He attended NDSSS and also NDSU. He was employed by Mid-American Dairy in Fergus Falls. On September 30, 1978, he was united in marriage to Julie Larum at Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls. The couple has made their home in Fergus Falls since then. Corey was able to stay home to raise their children.
Corey enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Fighting Sioux hockey. Corey was a chronic "tinkerer" and enjoyed inventing things. He was part of the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Posse for 20 years. Corey was an avid outdoorsman and had a genuine concern for the environment.
He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Dr. Alexia Hoefs of Owatonna; son, Michael (Stacy) Hoefs of Rosemount; father, Eugene Hoefs of Wahpeton; sister, Holly (Jody) Schuler of Wahpeton; brother, R. Joseph (Trisha) Hoefs of Grand Forks, ND; a grandson to be born in January 2016, Lucas Corey Michael Hoefs. Corey was preceded in death by his mother, Lois.
