Dallas Donald Glick was born on August 21, 1928, in Jenera, Ohio. He was the son of Harmon and Esther (Pifer) Glick. A man of faith that developed early, he was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dallas graduated from Arlington High School, Ohio in 1946. He attended Bluffton College graduating with a Chemistry/Math Degree in 1950. He then began to pursue his passion -medicine. He earned a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Chicago in 1954, served his internship at the University of Pennsylvania and became the first surgical Resident of the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He served two years as a Captain in the U.S. Army in Tokyo, Japan. After returning to the states, he returned to finish his residency. Always pursuing excellence as a Doctor and a Surgeon he received his master’s degree in surgery from the University of Minnesota in 1964. He became a Board-Certified Surgeon and was a member of the American College of Surgeons along with the Mayo Clinic Priestly Society.
Dallas settled in Mt. Lake, Minnesota. He married Marjorie Schultz and had 3 children. In 1961, he partnered with Alvin Wiens and opened the Glick and Wiens Clinic in Mt. Lake, Minnesota. This later became the Glick Clinic and remained in Mt. Lake until 1990 before moving to Windom, Minnesota where he practiced another 9 years. As a testament to Dallas as a man and Doctor, his patients and colleagues followed him wherever he practiced.
Throughout his medical career Dallas strove to always be the best Doctor he could. Working long hours, making house calls, continuing to improve his education, and surrounding himself with equally dedicated and talented staff. His patients were always treated generously with his time and talent.
Dallas married Lynda (Knutson-Tewes) in 1989 and began coming to their lake home on West Battle Lake, in 1991. In 1999, Dallas retired from his practice in the Mt. Lake/Windom area and moved to Battle Lake, where he and Lynda settled in at their lake home while they practiced medicine another 4 years at the Battle Lake Clinic. He and Lynda remained in Battle Lake, opening their home to friends and family, enjoying lake life, finding new causes in their community, and living out a well spent life.
Dallas loved being a doctor, a husband, a father, and a friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, deer hunting in Wyoming, loved cowboy culture, and relaxing by the lake with friends and family. He gave back to his community. He helped start both the Heritage Village and the golf course in Mt. Lake and the community defibrillator program in Battle Lake. He was involved in many community organizations and his church. He will be remembered by those that knew him as a hardworking man, a kind man, a generous man, and a loyal man.
