David C. Dorn, 83, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his residence under the care of his family and Lutheran Brethren Hospice.
David Clarence Dorn was born March 4, 1934 in Leaf Mountain Township of Otter Tail County to Harry and Barbara (Klimek) Dorn. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. David grew up in Leaf Mountain Township and attended country school there through the eighth grade. He graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1952. After his graduation, he helped on his family's farm while his brothers all entered the Service. On June 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to Hildy Cichy (Bettin) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. The couple made their home in Urbank where David worked as a foreman for Urbank Bait Company. In 1966, they moved to Fergus Falls where David worked as a carpenter. After retirement, David continued to do carpentry odd jobs. From 1974 to 1987, he and Hildy owned and operated Hildy's Market in Fergus Falls.
David enjoyed hunting and fishing, building furniture, remodeling and adding on to his house and camping. He anxiously looked forward to duck and deer camp each fall where he could spend time with his family.
David is survived by his wife, Hildy of Fergus Falls, a daughter, Diane (Dennis) Berube of Lisbon, ND, two sons: Dennis (Vicki) Dorn of Leaf Mountain Township and Darrel Dorn of Holmes City, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, seven godchildren and three brothers: Edward (Ginny) Dorn of Hoyt Lake, Bernard (Blanche) Dorn of Alexandria and George Dorn of St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by an infant son, David, his parents, a sister, Delores Dorn, a brother and his wife, Joe and Jane Dorn and a sister-in-law, Florence Dorn.
Visitation: Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 4 to 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resuming for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Fergus Falls.
