Dean Erickson, 86 of Fergus Falls died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Dean LeRoy Erickson was born on October 9, 1928, the son of Edwin and Anna (Schultz) Erickson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized on December 16, 1928 and confirmed in the Erdahl Lutheran Church. Dean graduated from the Elbow Lake High School in 1947. He then entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War in Austria and Germany.
Dean and Elaine Ringquist were married on August 8, 1951, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. They lived in Fergus Falls, where he was employed with Hintgen-Karst Electric for many years, doing bookkeeping and sales, retiring in 1986. Dean enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his up north deer hunting trips by Becida and his Canadian fishing trips. He liked his farm by Erdahl, taking many Sunday afternoon family drives to check on his farm. Dean was proud to be a member of the Rough Riders Snowmobile Club for many years, riding his Arctic Cats. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. Throughout his life Dean had been active with the VFW, American Legion, Eagles and Elks. Lately he enjoyed the VFW Friday night bingo with his daughter Julie.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Jane Dolan of Hebron, Kentucky and Julie (Wayne) Sydow of Battle Lake; five grandchildren and families, Chad (Debbie) Dolan, Megan and Matthew, Adam Dolan, Kelly (Lori) Sydow, Isaac and Ian, Nicholas Sydow, and Samantha (Jaden) Rhodes and their daughter due in August; and by relatives and friends. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Anna Erickson and by a granddaughter, Stephanie Sydow.
Funeral Service: 3:00 pm Friday, April 24, 2015 at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls
Visitation: one hour prior to the service
Clergy: Rev. Tom Peterson
Military Honors: Harold T. Swenson VFW Post 612 and American Legion Post 30, Fergus Falls
Interment: Erdahl Cemetery
