Delwin Tenney, 76 of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Lake Region Hospital.
Delwin Neal Tenney was born on June 3, 1936 in Brandrup Township, Wilkin County, MN, the son of Edwin and Elsie (Dagner) Tenney. He grew up in Fergus Falls, attending Adams School and Roosevelt High School. During the summer, Delwin enjoyed spending time on his uncle's farm near Doran with his cousins. Delwin joined the National Guard, and on July 15, 1955, was called to serve in the Army. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1957.
Delwin met the love of his life, Marjorie Bursken at City Bakery in Fergus Falls, and they were later married on December 29, 1958, in Webster, South Dakota.
In the earlier years, he worked at the French Elevator and for Holiday Gas Stations. He operated Twin City Freight for five years, drove semi truck for Hyman Freight and was custodian at the Fergus Falls Schools. In 1968, Delwin and Margie were blessed with a daughter. Delwin went on to drive for American Freight and again for Hyman, retiring in 1997.
Delwin loved to read western books, semi magazines and especially enjoyed listening to country western music. He lived for his grandkids and was always very proud of them. Delwin was a member of the Fergus Falls Eagle's Club and a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margie of Fergus Falls; a daughter, Denyce (Jason) Comstock of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren: Justin (Josey) Beyer of Pelican Rapids, Jenna Beyer (fiancée Mason Hegstad) of Fergus Falls and Chloe Comstock of Fergus Falls; two sisters: Ann (Gordy) Flatin and Adela (Roger) Berg, both of Fergus Falls.
Delwin was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Service: 11 AM Monday, November 26, 2012, at St. James Episcopal Church, Fergus Falls.
Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Sunday, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
