Dennis Schlotfeld

Dennis Gene Schlotfeld, 62, of Ashby, MN, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 12, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Dennis was born November 14, 1949 in St. Paul, Nebraska. He was the son of John and Irene (Ahlers) Schlotfeld of Ashby. He moved to Ashby, MN in 1955 with his parents and brother, and remained there his entire life. Dennis graduated from Ashby High School in 1968, and served in the Minnesota Army Reserve. He graduated from Alexandria Technical School where he met Susan Kay Olson. They were married January 2, 1971.
Dennis started farming with his brother, Charles, in 1971 and continued until his death. In the past, he was actively involved with 4-H as a club leader, softball coach and knowledge bowl coach. He served as director of the Ashby Equity Association. Dennis enjoyed sporting clay shooting and hunting. He enjoyed farming, his six grandchildren, and his Friday date nights.
Dennis is survived by his wife Susan (Olson) Schlotfeld of Ashby, his son Jeffery (Jane) Schlotfeld of Ashby, his daughters Michelle (Jeremy) Leffelman of Bemidji, and Stacy Schlotfeld of Alexandria, six grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Emma, and Ella Leffelman of Bemidji, Samantha and Frederick Schlotfeld of Ashby, and his brother Charles Schlotfeld of Ashby.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene (Ahlers) Schlotfeld of Ashby.
The visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 2pm to 4pm at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby. The funeral will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10am at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby.
