Diane Ihrke, 60, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
Diane Kaye Ihrke was born February 6, 1957 to parents Arles and Margaret Ihrke in Fosston, MN. She attended elementary school at Lengby until it closed and continued her schooling at Fosston High School where she graduated in 1975. She attended Duluth AVTI and obtained her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. She moved to Fargo and work in the neonatal intensive care unit. She continued her education there, obtaining her AAS degree in Nursing.
She moved to Fergus Falls, where she attended Bible College affiliated with the Church of the Lutheran Brethren, attaining her AAS degree in Bible.
Diane worked at Lake Region Medical Center for several years and has worked at various positions in the community.
Diane's greatest joy was becoming a mother to Samuel and Zekiel. She diligently taught them to love Jesus and to trust Him in all things. She lived for Jesus, her boys, and others. She taught many friends how to bake bread, make lefse, homemaking skills, and had recently started teaching a CNA class for Hillcrest students.
Diane is survived by her sons Sam and Zeke; brothers, Willis (Theresa) of Lengby, MN, Bennett (Jan) of Blair, Nebraska, Alan (Jan) of Duluth, MN; sisters, Barbara Ihrke of Marion Indiana, and Joyce (Peter) Rairdon of Cass Lake, MN. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces, nephews, cousins, god children, and a host of close friends.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Arles and Margaret; brother, Robert Ihrke; nephew, Jeremy Ihrke; and several uncles and aunts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for the benefit of her sons, Sam and Zeke. Donations may be made to the "Diane Ihrke Memorial Fund" C/O Security State Bank, 128 Washington Avenue East, Fergus Falls, MN 56537.
Visitation: 4:30 - 7 PM Thursday, March 23, 2017, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services at the church.
