Donald Freeman, 78 of Battle Lake died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Donald Mervin Freeman was born on February 4, 1934 in Perham, Minnesota the son of Dudley and Erna (Lange) Freeman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Maine Presbyterian Church. He attended the Amor School then the Battle Lake High School graduating in 1952.
Donald and DorisMay Clauson were married on June 30, 1956 in International Falls, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Battle Lake. Don served from January 1957 to January 1959 with the U.S. Army, stationed in Oklahoma then Ft. Sill in Washington and while in the Army he played on the Army Baseball Team. After his discharge they returned to Battle Lake where he was employed with Halls Hardware, Consumers Oil Co, Battle Lake Electric, then started Freeman Electric operating his business until his retirement. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, had belonged to the Battle Lake Lions Club, Lake Country Honkers Barbershop Chorus, Battle Lake Snowmobile Club, Battle Lake Fire Department and the Lakers Baseball Team. Don enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing, was a Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan and really enjoyed baseball. He liked music in general and was always singing and humming. Donnie was a family man who loved his family and kids.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; five children and families, David (Mary) Freeman, Daniel (Alyssa), Amy and Mason of Staples, Susan Nelson, Sam and James of Battle Lake, Deb (Bill) Bartholomay, Kylee and Kalli of Comstock, Jon (Belinda) Freeman, Emilee and Zane of Detroit Lakes and Cindy (Bryan) Kramer, Ben and Hannah of Minot, ND; one sister, Darlene (Bill) Secord of Coon Rapids; one brother, Ken (Sharon) Freeman of Minnesota and by numerous relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley and Erna Freeman and by one sister, Betty Jorve.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake.
Visitation: one hour prior to the service.
