Don Schatschneider, age 57, of Battle Lake passed away on August 27, 2011. Donald Roger Schatschneider was born on October 26, 1953 in Perham, MN, the son of H.W. Bill and Laura (Lohman) Schatschneider. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paula�(TM)s Lutheran Church Evergreen near Perham. He graduated from Perham High School in 1971. He furthered his education at Alexandria Technical College in auto mechanics, graduating in 1978. Don and Sandra Holo were married on April 28, 1973 at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. After their marriage they lived in the Battle Lake area.
Don worked various jobs in the area and most enjoyed working for Ringdahl Ambulance as an EMT-I and educator. He was one of the first members of the Battle Lake Rescue Squad; he was recognized in March of 2008 for 20 years of national EMS certification. Don served on the Battle Lake City Council and was a former member of the Otter Tail County Sheriffa�(TM)s Posse. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, working sugar beet harvest with friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Jennifer (Jason) Keeping of Moorhead, MN and Chad (Melissa) Holo of Anaheim Hills, CA; grandchildren Keaton and Aubrey Keeping of Moorhead; 6 siblings James of Perham, Ann Scott of Phoenix, John of Shoreview, Roy (Carol) of West Fargo, Fern (Randy) Nundahl of Perham and Lynn (Terry) Braaten of Kindred; brother-in-law Gerald (Jeri Wilmore) Holo of Battle Lake; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Gordon and Alice Holo.
