Donald Scherfenberg was born in Minneapolis but lived in Fergus Falls in his childhood. He loved the outdoors and roamed the prairie land. Don graduated from the U of M (Duluth and Minneapolis) with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In between, Don served in the army and traveled the world as he was stationed in places in the US and Europe. Don taught 4th and 6th grade at Inver Grove Heights, where he met the love of his life, Jean. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together and have two daughters, Karn and Kathryn (Sean), and grandchildren Isaac, Fred, and Emm. Don was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. A bright ‘character’, with a mind of his own, Don was an avid fisherman and duck hunter who supported nature conservation. He enjoyed the stock market, reading, cooking, traveling, many adventures, and a glass of wine and plate of cheese and crackers on the deck by the lake with family and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by Donald Sr. and Veronica (parents), Dorothy Scherfenberg (stepmom).
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Scherfenberg, daughters Karn Scherfenberg and Kathryn Scherfenberg (Sean Scott), grandchildren Isaac, Fred, and Emm, relatives and dear friends who were important in his life.
A private family service for Don will be held at a later time.
