Doris Janecky

Doris Janecky, 93 of Battle Lake died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Doris Olivia (Rossow) Janecky was born on March 8, 1918 in Hanley Falls, Minnesota the daughter of Otto and Ellen (Conrad) Trovatten. She was baptized at Spring Creek Lutheran Church of rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. Doris attended country school by Clarkfield until she was nine years old when her family moved to Margo, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1927. She graduated from high school in 1937 and continued her education at the University Farm School, St. Paul campus graduating from there in 1941. She then moved to Campbell, Minnesota where on March 29, 1942 she was confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Doris and Leo Rossow were married on November 25, 1943 in Campbell. After their marriage they farmed in the Campbell area until 1965. Due to Leo's poor health they moved to Arizona. In August of 1965 Leo died and in 1968 Doris returned to Campbell. In October of 1972 Doris and George "Bud" Janecky were married in Barnesville. Bud died in December of 1974. In May of 1975 Doris moved to Ahwatukee, Arizona where she lived for eleven years before moving to her home on Silver Lake, rural Battle Lake, Minnesota where she resided for twenty-four years. In April of 2010 she moved into the Lakeview Apartments in Battle Lake. Doris enjoyed bridge, cribbage, sewing, quilting, reading and loved her pets. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle, the Good Samaritan Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering. Doris enjoyed road trips doing a lot of driving and exploring. She was a family person and really enjoyed when everyone got together, making good memories at her Silver Lake home.

She is survived by four children, Elizabeth (Norman) Allison of Ottertail, Constance (David) Christensen of Warrenville, Ill., Conrad (Mary) Rossow of Woodbury and Cedric (Monique) Rossow of Perham; eight grandchildren and families, Wendy (Paul) LeRoy of Prescott, Az., Jeffrey Christensen of Anna, Ill., Byron (Tonnie) Scott and Trajen of Denver, Co., Jon (Kari) Rossow, Isaac and Samuel of Oronoco, Seth (Beth) Rossow, Ethan and Delaney of Onalaska, Wi., Jenna Rossow of So. St. Paul, Amanda (Glenn) Gerharz and Kailey of Plainfield, Ill., Shelby (Andrew) Goodman and Atley of Perham and by numerous friends and relatives. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Ellen Trovatten; husbands, Leo Rossow and Bud Janecky; one son, Byron Allen Rossow and by one sister, Lorraine "Sis" Culp.

Memorial Service: 11 am Saturday, January 14, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake

Visitation: one hour prior to the service

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Campbell, Minnesota
