Edmund Orrin Holo, 93, died on November 15, 2018. He was born in Tordenskjold Township on April 22, 1925, to Ole and Ella (Hoff) Holo. He attended rural school district 285.
As a young man Edmund joined the Navy during World War II, serving as a steam engineer on a destroyer, the USS Hawkins. The USS Hawkins supported submarine search duties in the Atlantic; and also provided aircraft carrier escort duty in the Pacific-Asiatic theaters of war during the occupation of Japan. In 1950 Edmund married Joan Formo of Dalton, MN. Edmund owned and farmed the original 160 acres homesteaded by his Grandfather Mikkel Holo. He also provided a grave digging service, sold and installed monuments for many years. Survivors include his wife, Joan of 68 years, and five children. Children include three sons and two daughters; Steven Holo of Stalker Lake MN, Michael(Carrie) Holo of Bellevue NE, and Jeffrey (Jacinta) Holo of Fargo ND, Cynthia (Leslie) Bredeson of Wahpeton ND, and Lisa (Mark) Becker of Fergus Falls MN. Grandchildren include Carolyn (Kevin) Kelley, Holly (Todd) Braud, Heather (Roman) Olivieri, Tryg Bredeson and fiancé Kimberly, Bevan (Elyssa) Bredeson, Erik (Melissa) Holo, Kelsey Holo, Ashley Holo, Erica (Tom) Jorgenson, Ronnie Becker, and Tessa Becker. Edmund also has eight great grandchildren and one on the way.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8th at 11:00 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake.
