Edward Kalenda

Edward Kalenda, 64 of rural Fergus Falls died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Edward Andrew Kalenda was born on October 4, 1947 in Perham, Minnesota the son of Andrew and Vivian (Dae) Kalenda. Ed was raised on a farm north of Dent; he attended the Dent School through the eighth grade then continued his education with the Perham High School. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp for four years serving one tour of duty in Vietnam.

He was a contractor with the Cedar Landfill, Cedar, Minnesota doing the covering at the landfill for a number of years. Ed traveled all over the United States for many years, working as needed. He was very mechanical and enjoyed repairing. He liked poetry and was great to memorize things. Ed lived life to the fullest. He was part of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. He attended Sunday services and appreciated the congregation for accepting him for who he was. Along with enjoying traveling, he liked to fish and visiting with people.

Ed is survived by one daughter, Judy Brown of Big Lake; one grandson, Tommy; nine siblings, Marcella Kalenda of Cloquet, Judy (Al) Bennewitz of Alexandria, Gerald (Lorraine) Kalenda of Clitherall, Bill (Lynnette) Kalenda of Zimmerman, MaryAnn Heidelberger of Scottsdale, Az., Ken Kalenda of Ashby, Ernie Dally of Maine, Theresa Holland of Alexandria and Kathy Dally of Kentucky; and by numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Vivian Kalenda and by one brother, Richard Kalenda.

Funeral Service: 2 pm Saturday, January 28, 2012 Bethel Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls

Visitation: one hour prior

Clergy: Rev. David Foss

Interment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Dent, Minnesota

Funeral Home: Glende-Nilson of Fergus Falls.
