Eldred Ness, 92 of rural Ashby died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Broen Home.
Eldred Alden Ness was born on October 12, 1923, by Battle Lake, Minnesota the son of Alvin and Ella (Schott) Ness. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended various Country Schools.
Eldred and Betty Anderson were married on December 20, 1951. After their marriage they lived at different locations until 1969, when they purchased their present farm in St. Olaf Township. Eldred worked for many construction companies along with doing general farming, raising both livestock and grain. He enjoyed gardening and sold vegetables, farming, woodworking and visiting and having coffee with family and friends. Eldred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Eagle Lake Sportsman's Club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; five children, Bruce Ness of Dalton, Susan (Michael) Merten of Alexandria, Judy (Michael) Grecco, Larry (Konie) Ness and Daniel (Andrea) Ness all of Ashby; two sons-in-law, Steve (Eva) Lepisto of Virginia and John Petersen of Battle Lake; twelve grandchildren, Lacey Ness, Megan (Adam) Barker, Ryan Ness, Allison Grecco, Haley Ness, Ashley Ness, Emily Merten, Chelsy Ness, Walker Merten, Riley Grecco, Josey Ness and Jasmine Lepisto; brother, Bernell (Anne) Ness of Pillager; sister, Bernice Starin of Fergus Falls; and by numerous relatives and friends. Eldred was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Ella Ness; two brothers, Willard and Kenneth Ness; two daughters, Marcia Lepisto and Cheryl Petersen; grandson, Jacob Ness; brother-in-law, Virgil Starin; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Ness.
Funeral Service: 10 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Ashby.
Visitation: Friday from 4 to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Interment: Lakeside Cemetery, rural Ashby
