Elizabeth Adelsman

Elizabeth "Betty" Adelsman, 96 of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Hospitality House of rural Fergus Falls.

Elizabeth Ann Johnson was born on August 9, 1919, to Adolph and Anna (Smith) Johnson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She attended local schools and graduated from the Fergus Falls High School in 1937, and then continued her education at the Interstate Business College in Fargo.

She worked a number of years in St. Paul and was a payroll and abstract clerk with the State Game and Fish Department.

Betty married Allan James Adelsman on June 8, 1946, in Fergus Falls where they made their home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where her great-grandfather had been one of the twelve charter members. She had served as financial secretary several times and organist and pianist. Betty loved music, liked to read, do counted cross stitch, knit afghans, spend time with her family and friends and had a special love for cats, especially her beloved "Freddie".

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan, her parents, Adolph and Anna Johnson, and by two brothers, Russell and Ralph Johnson.

Betty is survived by three sons, Mark (Sue) Adelsman of Fergus Falls, Tom (Connie) Adelsman of Bothell, WA and Jim Adelsman of Fergus Falls; one daughter, Mary (Paul) Teter of Albany, Georgia; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Brian (Jen) Adelsman, Colin and Blake, Brad (Brandi) Adelsman and Mack, Jesse Teter, Jacob (Sandra) Teter, Jason Adelsman, Sam Adelsman, Katie (James) Brack, Jordan and Troy; and by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be after the holidays at 1:00 pm on Saturday January 9, 2016, at Crossroads Church in Fergus Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home.
