Ellen V. Bosen, 81, of Battle Lake, MN, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2016, at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Ellen Vieno was born on April 18, 1934, in Wadena, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward G. and Edna (Salo) Hietala. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and graduated from New York Mills High School in 1952.
On August 9, 1952, she married Lawrence B. Bosen Jr. in Staples, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple resided in Fargo, North Dakota where she attended the Dakota Business College. She was very sharp with numbers and was employed with Scheels Hardware while in Fargo. She had various jobs but had managed the Hercules Metal Fabrications in Corona, South Dakota. They had lived in different locations while Lawrence was teaching school including Perham, Motley, Tillamook, Nyssa, Oregon, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They purchased Larry's Dew Drop Inn Resort on Lake Traverse near Browns Valley, which they operated for twenty years. In 1996 the couple moved to Ottertail City where they owned and operated Granny's Variety Corner until 2004, when they moved to their home in Battle Lake.
Her hobbies included homemaking and cooking along with being an excellent seamstress. The couple enjoyed life and had many good years together, especially with family and their beloved grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Edna and a son, Larry Allen Bosen.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Lawrence Bosen Jr. of Battle Lake; six children, Laura (Robert) Heneks of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Lee Bosen, and Lynnette (Larry) Hayes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lonny (Ramona) Bosen of Dallas, Texas, Laine (Wendy) Bosen of Perham, Minnesota and Loren (Darla) Bosen of Wylie, Texas; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and two sisters, Irene Johnson of Foley, MN and Ann (Tim) Kreitter of Lady of The Lake, Florida, along with numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are pending with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Battle Lake for Ellen Bosen.
Funeral Services: 1 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Battle Lake, MN
