Emily Elizabeth Flink was born in Northampton England, Great Britain, September 15, 1923, the daughter of George Alfred and Annie Elizabeth Eales. In 1944, Emily met and married Samuel Flink who was in the United States Army Engineers stationed in England. In 1946 Emily and son Paul came to America to make their home with Sam.
They Lived in Pelican Rapids for a few years, then moved to Fergus Falls in 1978. In the summertime, Emily, Paul and Sam went traveling with the carnival. Sam was the mechanic for all rides for his sister who owned the carnival. Emily and Paul sold popcorn. Then in the fall they went to North Dakota picking potatoes until Paul started school.
Emily was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, since 1980. She volunteered with the food shelf, hospice mailing, Grace Club, vacation Bible school, helped in the office, serving circle and many other duties for her church. She loved to crochet, knit and make people laugh. She was always smiling.
Preceding her in death were her husband Samuel in 1987, son Paul in 1984, and her mother in 1978, who was staying with Emily and family from England.
Emily is survived by three granddaughters; many great- grandchildren; a sister, Hazel (Arthur) Bates; niece Anne Ross; and cousins all in England.
