Esther Lee, age 95, of Fergus Falls, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Pioneer Care Center, Fergus Falls.
Esther Lee was born October 6, 1915 to Paul and Sena (Hendrickson) Kvern in Fergus Falls, the third of four children. She was baptized and confirmed at Kongsberg Lutheran Church. Esther was educated and came of age in Fergus Falls. In her early 20’s she moved to Whittier, CA where she met Kenneth (Toby) Lee. They were married on May 22, 1939. Together they raised three children until Toby’s death in 1959. Esther remained in Whittier, where she worked, participated in community activities and developed life-long friendships. In 1975, Esther, with her two sons, moved back to Fergus Falls. They owned and operated WeeTown Store and Tavern, developing new friendships and fulfilling the desire for Esther to return to her family. She retired to town in the early 80’s where she continued to enjoy time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Robert) Sterling of Show Low, AZ; her son, Gary (Tracey) Lee of Fergus Falls; 7 grandchildren, Tari (Butch) Lohrenz, Stacy (Chuck) Hatton, Joni (Walter) Rozycki, Erin (John) Gerek, Rachel Lee, Paris (Scott) Turchin, Alexander Lee; nine great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Bernice Kvern of Fergus Falls.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Toby; her son, Mike Lee & his wife Rema; her grandson, Jason Lee; her brother, Alfred Kvern; her 2 sisters, Helga Stanley and Selma Rasmussen.
Funeral Services: Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls
Visitation: Friday, January 7 from 5-7 PM at with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls
