Eudora Rounds

Eudora Rounds, 94, of rural Battle Lake, formerly of Bertha, died Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Eudora Marie Rounds was born on May 21, 1921 at home in Woodside Township, rural Bertha, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Alma [Kittelson] Pfeffer. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. Eudora went to a country school in Woodside Township for one year, then to another country school, District 141 in Stowe Prairie Township for the next 6 years. She went on to high school in Bertha, graduating 4 years later. Next in her education was one year of Normal in Staples to qualify her to become a rural school teacher. Eudora went on to teach for three years in three different rural schools, including the Brabec School East of Browerville, the Hilltop School North of Bertha, and the Burgess School Southwest of Bertha.
Eudora and Lyle Rounds were married on June 12, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bertha. To this union three children were born, Denis, Donald and Patricia. They farmed near Bertha until 1971 when they moved to Wisconsin to manage a game farm. Later they moved to Lake Elmo. In 1980 Eudora and Lyle moved to Crane Lake near Battle Lake for their retirement years. Here they entertained many friends and relatives, many great fishing trips and family reunions were celebrated. Lyle passed away on June 13, 1996 leaving Eudora as a widow for nearly 20 years. She continued to entertain many people at the lake and enjoyed the fishing for many years. She was also a musician, playing organ for many years at St. Joseph's Church in Bertha. She and Lyle had a huge garden near their retirement home & shared produce with friends and family. They loved to play cards. They loved people.
After her husband's passing, Eudora's garden became a little smaller every year, but she always had a garden and a strawberry patch!! Preceding her in death was her husband, Lyle; son, Donald; brothers, Allen, Norbert and Vincent; brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Percy; sisters-in-law Mary and Bernice. She is survived by her son Denis [Elaine] Rounds of Bertha, daughter Patricia [David] Till of Tampa, Florida, brother David Pfeffer, sisters-in-law Lorretta Pfeffer, Elda Pfeffer, Audrey Davis and Joyce Osterkamp, grandchildren Sandra [Ross] Perish, Daniel [Diane] Rounds, Melissa [Glen] Hamann, James [Tracy] Rounds, Denyce [Clint] Frey, Donald [Denise] Heil, Pricilla [Jon] Morris; great grandchildren Charlotte Lamb, Payton Lamb, Mathew Goedderz, Naythan Goedderz, John Goedderz, Jade Frey, Treinor Heil, Austin Glascow, Lauren Glascow, Gayle Knolls, Crystal Kuseske, Michelle Perish, Samuel Hamann, Nicholas Hamann, Carson Hamann, Jake Rounds, Victoria Rounds, Trevor Rounds, Jessa Jo Rounds; and four great-great grandchildren, Jaiden Kuseske, Preston Kuseske, Talia Knolls and Connor Goedderz.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake.
Visitation will be Monday, from 4 to 7 pm with Parish Prayers at 6 pm followed by a Rosary, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake and one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Interment will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Bertha
