Evelyn Mallinson, age 99, of Battle Lake, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Society.
Evelyn Bernice Mallinson was born April 3, 1913, to Harry and Beda (Fredrichson) Peterson in Duluth, MN. She moved with her family to Minneapolis as a child, where she graduated from High School. On September 30, 1932, Evelyn was united in marriage to George Mallinson.
During her lifetime, Evelyn worked for the Bloomington Public Schools as a cook, and was in charge of establishing the school lunch program when a new school was built. Evenyln loved gardening and visiting with friends, but most of all, she enjoyed the children at the various schools she had the privilege to cook at. As the wife of a U.S. Veteran, Evelyn was a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #550 in Bloomington.
Evelyn is survived by her son, LeRoy (Marlene) Mallinson of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Hazel (Stewart) Erickson of Hot Springs, Arkansas, May (Kim) Jensen of Alexandria, Grace (James) Larson of Upland, CA, Irene (Charles) Hodges of Warsaw, Indiana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Beda Pederson; her husband, George on February 3, 1987; a sister, Anna Hauber; and grandchildren Georgia and Jon.
Graveside Service: 2 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Lakewood Cemetery in Battle Lake.
