Evelyn Maslow, 81 of Battle Lake died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Evelyn Ann Maslow was born on January 12, 1932 in Madison, Minnesota the daughter of Martin and Alice (Sjolie) Lysholm. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Madison. Evie attended the Madison Public School then graduated from the Pennsburg High School in Fallsington, Pennsylvania in1950.
Evie and Donald Charles Maslow were married on June 21, 1952 in the St. James Catholic Church in Nassau, Minnesota by Fr. Wojtowicz. After their marriage they lived in St. Paul, MN and in 1964 they moved to their farm by Stanchfield, MN. Evie was a homemaker and also worked on the family farm. From 1980 to 1992 she was employed with the Southview Elementary School as a Pre-School Aid in Braham. She belonged to Christian Mothers, a local birthday club, Moose Lodge and the Red Hat Society. Evie loved to cook, bowl, play games, reading and also enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. After retirement Evie and Don enjoyed wintering at their Mission, Texas home for seven years. Don passed away on March 6, 2004. In April of 2009 Evie moved into Lakeview Senior Living in Battle Lake and in July of 2012 she entered the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
She is survived by five children, David (Debbie) Maslow of Columbia, SC, Cheri Zouhou of Longmont, CO, Donald (Cheryl) Maslow of Battle Lake, MN, Mary Jo (Joe) Gonzales of Northglenn, CO and Jon Maslow of Circle Pines, MN; twelve grandchildren and families, Jason (Susie) Maslow, Ryan, Kara, Luke and Anna, Jamie (Brian) Gregory, Connor and Owen, Sara Allen, Thea (Brian) Lewis and baby due on Feb. 27th, Brandon (Bekah) Maslow, Angela (Brian) Moen, Joseph and Ethan Gonzales, Bryon Maslow, Jacki (Garrett) Maslow and Isaiah, Mackenzie and Emily Maslow; one sister, Cathy (Mal) Undlin of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Myron Lysholm of N. Los Angeles, CA and Duane (Nancy) Lysholm of Eagan, MN; and by numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents, Martin and Alice Lysholm, step-father, Fred Oppem; 2 brothers Lavern and Robert Lysholm; 2 sisters Janice Johnson and Valoris Tofte and a god-daughter/niece Lisa Tofte.
Memorial Mass: 11 am, Monday, January 28, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Battle Lake
Visitation: one hour prior to the mass
