Faith Swenson, 95, of
Fergus
Falls
died Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Pioneer Retirement Community.
Faith Swenson was born April 6, 1915, in
Marietta
,
Washington
to Harry Ealy and Mabel Winnefred (
Monroe
) Noffsinger.
She lived with them along with her brother, John, until the age of two when they moved to
Campbell
and lived with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Noffsinger.
Faith graduated from
Campbell
High School
in 1932.
She remained living with her grandmother until her marriage in 1935 to Carl E. Swenson.
Four children were born to them, Gary, Gordon, Marlen and Carolyn.
Carl and Faith farmed in
Orwell
Township
until 1973.
They then purchased a home and moved to Fergus Falls.
Carl died in 1975.
Shortly after his death, Faith began working as a Home Health Care Aid for the county for several years.
Later she kept college students in her home.
This proved to be an interesting experience including having the daughters of the former Shah of Iran live with her.
In 2001 Faith moved from her comfortable home into the Cardinal Apartments and later to the Pioneer Home.
Faith was a member of Western Presbyterian Church were she was very involved in church work including being church organist and Sunday School Superintendent.
Her greatest interest in life, besides being a wife and mother, was her music which stayed with her until just a few years ago.
Faith enjoyed good health during her life and was fortunate to be able to travel to the Scandinavian countries,
Germany
, three times to
Mexico
, nearly all the
United States
and
Canada
.
She had seen the Pacific, Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico and some of the Great Lakes traveling across the
United States
by both plane and car.
Even though her life had been very fulfilling, she knew a better life was ahead of her, but still hated saying good bye to those she knew and loved.
She is survived by her sons, Gordon Swenson and Marlen Swenson both of
Fergus
Falls
; daughter, Carolyn (
Wayne
) Somers of Hibbing, MN; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; a son, Gary; two brothers and a sister.
