Ferlene R. Kniss, 75, of Evansville, died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.

She was born June 30, 1939 in Alexandria, MN to Ferdinand and Esther (Williams) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Evansville. Ferlene grew up and received her schooling in Evansville, graduating with the class of 1957. She attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis and graduated from there in 1958. She then went to work for Mercy and Unity Hospitals in Fridley for 39 years, retiring in 2005 and moving back to Evansville. On October 22, 2008, she was united in marriage to George Belmore at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville.

Ferlene enjoyed riding motorcycle, shopping, camping, traveling, gardening, dancing and fishing. She especially enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with family.

She is survived by her husband, George Belmore of Evansville; three children: Kim (Dave) Peterson of Orono, Jeff Kniss of Park Rapids and Steve (Angie) Kniss of Eden Prairie; a brother, Daryl (Carol) Johnson of Evansville; nine grandchildren: Rob Kniss, Sara Boyd, Amy Kniss, Kyle Kniss, Heather Kniss, Ryan Kniss, Rachel Kniss, Becca Kniss and Austin Peterson; one great-grandchild, Kaden Boyd and three step-children: Charles Belmore, Donald Belmore and Carolyn Brose. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Esther Johnson and a daughter-in-law, Susan Kniss.

Visitation: Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville.

Service: Monday, September 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Evansville.

Burial: Mound Grove Cemetery in Evansville
