Florence Lystrom, 88 of Battle Lake died Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.
Florence Gunnilia Lystrom was born on June 22, 1923 in Eagle Lake Township, rural Battle Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Victor and Gina (Besstad) Larson. She was baptized and confirmed at the Grue Lutheran Church and attended Rural School District #72 in Eagle Lake Township.
Florence and Benjamin Lystrom were married on November 28, 1940 in the Battle Lake Parsonage. After their marriage they farmed in Eagle Lake Township until 1956 when they moved to Orange County, California. In 1976 they returned to the farm in Minnesota, in 1978 moved into Evansville and in 2006 moved into Ashby. In April of 2009 they entered the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center. Florence was a homemaker and had been employed with the Crestview Manor Nursing Home for six years. She was a member of the Grue Lutheran Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening and baking. She kept a very neat home and kept a daily record of family happenings and the weather. Florence enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie; one son, Gary (Patt) Lystrom of Battle Lake; three daughters, Helaine (Wesley) Shaffer of Eldorado Springs, Mo., Brenda Jones of Ashby and Twila Stierlen of Ashby; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and by numerous relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Gina Larson; one great-grandson, Justin Woldahl; and by two sisters, Mabel Evavold and Ina Evavold.
Funeral Services: 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Grue Lutheran Church, rural Ashby
Visitation: Friday 4 to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby and one hour prior to the service at the church.
