Floyd Estlick, age 91, of Battle Lake, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
Floyd Wayne Estlick was born on January 20, 1921 in Perham, Minnesota, the son of John G. and Lila E. (Malcolm) Estlick. He was baptized as an adult at the Basswood Seventh Day Adventist Church. He attended the Amor School and continued his education at the Wahpeton Science School where he was enrolled in hydronics and plumbing. He also spent three and one-half years studying agriculture through the Morris Ag School. Floyd served three years, ten months and ten days with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in Europe where he was in the Battle of the Bulge.
Floyd and Darlene A. Wickham were married on March 6, 1946 in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They lived in the Basswood, Dent and Perham areas except for three years in Denver, Colorado. He started plumbing in 1955 and was employed with Jack Kane Plumbing of Alexandria, Fergus Plumbing & Heating, Hopert Plumbing of Wahpeton, Ralph Erickson Plumbing of Breckenridge and then he operated Floyd's Friendly Plumbing of Perham. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, D.A.V. Chapter #7 of Denver, Co., and V.F.W. in Golden, CO. As a young man, Floyd enjoyed breaking draft horses with his dad, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Floyd is survived by two daughters, Abby (Jay) Bizzett-Johnson of Battle Lake and Loralee (Fred) Carter of Lincoln, Ne.; three sons, Marcus (Virginia) Estlick of Sandpoint, Id., Michael (Joyce) Estlick and Thomas (Jennifer) Estlick all of Richville; twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene on April 17, 2012; one son, Joseph Estlick on November 25, 1953 and one daughter, Joan Phillips on August 22, 1999.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Oakwood Cemetery, Richville.
