"Fran" Frances Sieling, 85, died Thursday, June 16, 2011.
Fran was born January 25, 1926, in Cloquet, Minnesota the daughter of Lee and Libbie Parker. The family moved to a farm in Girard Township near Henning, Minnesota in 1929. She graduated from Henning High School in 1943, graduated Teacher Training Class from Fergus Falls in 1944, and completed her four year teaching degree from Moorhead State College in 1963.
She married Earl Sieling on June 22, 1947 and started their life together in Perham where their two daughters, Cheryl and Jean were born. In 1959 they moved to Fergus Falls, and after their third child, Scott was born they moved to the country near Wall Lake.
Her first ten years of teaching began in rural Otter Tail County at three country schools; District 206 in Deer Creek, at St Joe School in Dent and Corliss School in Perham. She taught four years at Perham Elementary School and 25 years in the Fergus Falls Elementary School system at Cleveland, Madison, Eisenhower and Adams. She retired from teaching in 1983.
Fran enjoyed roller skating, dancing, bowling, gardening, and was an avid Nascar fan. She was actively involved in 4-H, the Town & Country Saddle Club, her daughter's horse shows and son's motocross racing. Retirement also included many trips in their motor home visiting friends and relatives and taking their grandchildren Sandi & Bob on some of their travel adventures.
Preceding her in death were her husband Earl Sieling, brother Ervin "Shorty" Parker and parents Lee & Libbie Parker.
Survivors include her children: Cheryl Buchner, Jean Sieling of Fergus Falls, and Scott (Lourdes) Sieling of San Mateo, California; grandchildren Sandi (Scott) Budke of Fergus Falls and her children Bailey and Brooke, and Bob (Jody) Borchers of Elizabeth and their daughter Aubry Frances; sisters Gladys (Lawler) Olson and Carrie (Ervin) Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
Memorial Service - Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, Minnesota
