Frances Aasness, 92, of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, December 14, 2015, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Frances Ingeborg Draxten was born on June 3, 1923 in Norman County, MN, the daughter of Ingmar and Christine (Minge) Draxten. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Swan Lake Lutheran Church, Dane Prairie Township, MN. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School, and went on to attend and graduate from nurses training at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo.
On November 3, 1946, Frances married Kenneth Aasness, upon his return from WWII. They lived their married life in Fergus Falls, and were blessed with four children.
Frances was a surgical registered nurse at Lake Region Healthcare, until her retirement in 1985.
Frances and Kenneth were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, and later attended Swan Lake Lutheran Church, where they were very active. Frances was active with the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen's Association Auxiliary and enjoyed her homemakers group. She truly enjoyed her life as homemaker, wife and mother.
She will be remembered for her generosity and love for family and friends.
Frances is survived by four children, David (Pam) Aasness of Moorhead, Kathryn (Les) Pettit of Howard Lake, Shirley (Ted) Wallace of Wrenshall, MN, and Barbara Marsh of Becker, MN; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tyler) Aasness, Christine (Del) Whitman, Zachary (Sarah) Pettit; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a brother, Clayton; and a sister, Medora.
