Francis Rix, 86 of rural Clitherall, Minnesota died Monday, August 1, 2016, at his home.
Francis David Rix was born on November 25, 1929, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Roy Carl and Hattie Ann (Zimmer) Rix. He attended several country schools throughout Otter Tail County through the eighth grade. Francis served in the U.S. Army for two years from January of 1953, to January of 1955, serving in California and Texas.
Francis lived in various locations and after his return from the military, in the fall of 1945, he moved to rural Vining for ten years. In 1955, he moved to his farm in Nidaros Township, south of Clitherall. He dairy farmed milking Brown Swiss dairy cattle, fed steers and farmed his land for over fifty years and was a very hard worker. Francis enjoyed the outdoors, farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by one brother, Everon (Toby Ann) Rix of Blytheville, Arkansas; two nieces, Hattie Rix of Alexandria and Cynthia Rix of Blytheville, Arkansas; two nephews, Richard Rix of Sherwood, Arkansas and Scott Rix of Blytheville, Arkansas; and by numerous great-nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Hattie Rix and by one brother, Harold Rix.
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
