Gaylen Marlo Jorgenson, 75, of rural Erhard died Monday, July 18th, 2011, at the Broen Home. Gaylen was born July 30, 1935, to Erick and Clara (Ouren) Jorgenson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at Hedemarken Lutheran Church. Gaylen went on to graduate from Pelican Rapids High School.
On February 19, 1956, Gaylen married Ethelyn Stensrude. Gaylen and Ethelyn started their farming career in Foxhome and continued dairy farming north of Underwood. After selling his dairy cows, Gaylen worked for the Ottertail Valley Railroad, until his retirement.
Gaylen enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards and was an avid Minnesota Vikings/Twins fan (most of the time). He enjoyed woodworking, and made many gifts for the family. He also enjoyed fishing, especially winter spearing. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Underwood Lions Club.
Gaylen is survived by his wife, Ethelyn; daughters, Candace Neppl, Erhard, MN; Valerie (Robert) Braun, Marshall, MN; Michelle (David) Randall, Park Rapids, MN; a son, Kent (Teresa), Underwood, MN; sisters, Ruby Hanneman, Fergus Falls; and Gloria (Delain) Miller, Fergus Falls; brothers, Harley (Gwen) Jorgenson, Erhard; Elroy (Dorothy) Jorgenson, Rothsay; and Edward (Doris) Jorgenson, Rothsay; 12 grandchildren: Kent (Amber) Neppl, Maddock, ND; Ryan (Lisa) Neppl, Hutchinson, MN; Tausha (Dan) Christensen, Battle Lake, MN; Nick (Jill) Anderson, Fargo, ND; Alicia Anderson, Elbow Lake, MN; Abby Neppl, Erhard, MN; Melissa Randall, Park Rapids, MN; Eric Randall, East Grand Forks, MN; Michael Randall, Park Rapids, MN; Ben Randall, Park Rapids, MN; Andrea Jorgenson, Underwood, MN Bryce Jorgenson, Underwood, MN; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Proceeding him in death were his parents; son-in-law, Greg Neppl; and sister, Sylvia Hanneman.
Memorials preferred to Messiah Lutheran Church.
Visitation: 5:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Service: 11:00 AM Friday, July 22, 2011, at Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Underwood.
